County Data Profiles

These North Carolina county profiles synthesize data on topics such as population changes, local economic conditions, health, civic engagement and other important metrics.  They highlight areas of challenge, opportunity, and resiliency across our state.

The profiles also supplement data collected in the Carolina Across 100 listening phase. During that survey and set of interviews, we heard from thousands of North Carolinians representing each of the 100 counties. The respondents, from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, generously shared their experiences, identified concerns facing their communities and organizations, and offered ideas for how UNC-Chapel Hill can support or expand efforts happening across our state.

Our hope is that these profiles may serve as a tool for residents to not only learn more about their own communities, but to also learn about their neighboring counties, the challenges and opportunities shared across the state, and engender action on topics that concern or inspire them. We are thankful for the partnership of Carolina Demography to create these visualizations of the data collected.
